Hi Reader! Last week over on the blog, I shared my comprehensive list of "best moving supplies" - or at least, the ones you really need - based on our 20 years of military moves. And while the military compensates us for much of our moving costs, we always try to keep our expenses as low as possible and use recycled products whenever we can. Today, I wanted to share some of the best ways to save money on moving supplies...because the costs sure add up quickly! Price Compare. From trucks and shipping containers to boxes and dollies, there can be pretty dramatic price swings from company to company. It definately pays to price compare...just make sure you note sizes, duration, restrictions, etc to ensure you're comparing "apples to apples." Shop Around. While my shopping guide links directly to Amazon (for convenience), we've found there is no "one best place" for all moving supplies. Amazon has great prices on tapes and wraps, while Harbor Freight Tools can be a great place for blankets and paper. If saving money is a top priority, be prepared to shop around! Look For Used. Local Buy, Sell, Trade or Facebook Marketplace pages are filled with people getting rid of used moving supplies (especially from Spring to late Summer). Yes, it can be extra work to drive around and scoop up boxes and smooth out used packing paper, but the cost savings can be significant. TIP! If you live near a military installation or college campus, many folks give away their used boxes and paper for free! Rent What You Can. Local hardware stores and truck companies usually have a wide variety of items available to rent. While you may feel hesitant to shell out money for dollies, straps, etc, these investments can reap rewards in time and energy saved! Save For the Next Move. If you're a family/individual who moves frequently, save your moving supplies (boxes, paper, blankets, bubble wrap, etc). Yes, these items can be smoothed out, stacked/rolled up, and safely stored until you need them again! Need more money saving ideas? Here are 6 EASY ways to generate extra cash during the moving process! Last Week On the BlogHere's what you may have missed last week on the blog! Have a great rest of the week, and I hope to see you on the blog soon! ~MeganWant to stay on my mailing list but no longer want to receive The Sunday Short Newsletter? Just click HERE! |

Hi Reader! Last week on the blog, I spent some time chatting about plants, particularly how to move them. And since my solution is usually not to move them, I get lots and lots of opportunities to try new plants each time we settle into a new place. In recent years, I've found myself buying the same few plants over and over because they are the perfect combination of 1) easy to care for, and 2) they look really good! Read on to see the three plants I always have in my home! Pathos. Pathos...

Hi Reader! Last week, over on the blog, I (finally) detailed the very painful process of removing the peel and stick tile from our rental kitchen. And there was one tool that was essential to getting the project done. Read on to see why my hair dryer (!!!) is one of the most-used items in my "rental decor toolbox." As a renter, I rely a lot on peel-and-stick products. From adhesive wallpaper on our walls, Command Strips on our frames, stick-on shower caddies, and more...sometimes you just...
